ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

Mechanical Removals & Installations Ltd ("MRI Ltd")

 

1. Purpose

This policy defines MRI Ltd’s commitment to protecting the environment and minimising the environmental impact of its operations.

As a specialist contractor delivering lifting, transport and installation services, MRI Ltd recognises that its activities — including fleet operations, plant movement, lifting operations and material handling — have the potential to impact the environment. This policy sets out how those impacts are controlled and reduced.

This policy is aligned with the principles of ISO 14001:2015 and supports the company’s commitment to responsible and sustainable operations.

 

2. Scope

This policy applies to all MRI Ltd operations within the United Kingdom, including:

  • Mechanical & electrical removals and installations

  • AP-led lifting operations and lift planning

  • Plant movement and specialist handling

  • Transport and heavy haulage activities

  • Fabrication and associated works

  • Storage and logistics operations

It applies to all employees, management personnel and subcontractors engaged in activities on behalf of MRI Ltd.

 

3. Responsibilities

Responsibility for environmental management is defined as follows:

  • Managing Director
    Overall accountability for environmental performance, compliance and strategic direction

  • Management Team
    Responsible for implementing environmental controls and ensuring compliance across operations

  • Appointed Persons (APs) & Operational Leads
    Responsible for planning lifting and operational activities in a manner that minimises environmental impact, including reducing unnecessary movements and resource use

  • Employees and Operatives
    Responsible for following environmental procedures, reducing waste and operating equipment responsibly

  • Supply Chain & Subcontractors
    Expected to comply with MRI Ltd’s environmental standards and support responsible working practices

 

4. Commitments

MRI Ltd is committed to the following:

 

4.1 Environmental Protection

  • Minimising environmental impact across all operations

  • Preventing pollution wherever reasonably practicable

  • Protecting the surrounding environment during project delivery

 

4.2 Resource Efficiency

  • Using energy, fuel and materials efficiently

  • Reducing unnecessary consumption through improved planning and coordination

  • Minimising waste generated from operations

 

4.3 Waste Management

  • Managing waste in accordance with UK environmental legislation

  • Segregating and disposing of waste responsibly

  • Promoting recycling and reuse where practicable

 

4.4 Operational Control

MRI Ltd will reduce environmental impact through how work is planned and delivered, including:

  • AP-led lift planning to minimise unnecessary crane use, plant duplication and site movements

  • Coordinated project delivery to reduce transport requirements and site congestion

  • Efficient routing and scheduling of transport and haulage operations

  • Careful handling and storage of materials to prevent damage and waste

 

4.5 Compliance

MRI Ltd will:

  • Comply with all relevant UK environmental legislation and regulatory requirements

  • Operate in line with the principles of ISO 14001:2015

  • Maintain appropriate environmental controls and procedures

  • Ensure environmental considerations are integrated into business decision-making

 

4.6 Supply Chain Responsibility

  • Working with suppliers and subcontractors who operate responsibly

  • Encouraging improved environmental performance across the supply chain

  • Considering environmental impact when selecting materials and services

 

5. Continuous Improvement

MRI Ltd is committed to continuous improvement by:
