The equipment is often heavy, expensive, sensitive, programme-critical and required within live or security-controlled environments. A delay, damage event, access issue or poorly planned movement can create serious disruption for the wider project. Mechanical Removals & Installations supports data centre contractors, operators, M&E teams, facilities teams and infrastructure clients with controlled movement and logistics support for critical plant and equipment. MRI can assist from early planning and secure storage through to delivery, lifting, internal movement, final positioning and installation support. The focus is simple: protect the equipment, protect the programme and complete the movement safely with the least possible disruption. Critical Equipment We Move Mechanical Removals & Installations supports the movement, lifting, handling and positioning of a wide range of data centre and critical infrastructure equipment. · CRAC units · CRAH units · UPS systems · Battery systems and associated equipment · Generators · Transformers · HV switchgear · LV switchgear · RMUs · Power modules · E-Pods and modular power equipment · Cooling plant · Chillers and HVAC equipment · AHUs and mechanical plant · Server hall support plant · Electrical infrastructure equipment · Mechanical plant room equipment · Heavy and awkward project-critical assets Why Data Centre Logistics Cannot Be Treated Like Standard Movements Moving data centre equipment is not the same as moving general freight. • HEALTH & SAFETY | Mechanical Removals

SAFETY-LED LIFTING, MOVEMENT, TRANSPORT & PROJECT DELIVERY Request a Quote Plan properly. Control the risk. Deliver safely. Mechanical Removals & Installations places health and safety at the centre of every project. MRI supports commercial, industrial, construction, M&E, infrastructure and data centre clients with planned lifting, plant movement, machinery relocation, specialist transport, secure storage, dismantling, fuel tank removal, site waste logistics and final positioning works. Our work often involves heavy equipment, restricted access, live environments, critical infrastructure, tight programmes and high-value assets. That means safety cannot be added at the end. It needs to be built into the way the work is surveyed, planned, communicated, supervised and delivered. Site surveys and early planning RAMS and method statements CPA contract lifting and lift planning Appointed Person support where required LOLER-aware lifting operation planning PUWER-related equipment suitability considerations Safe systems of work Competent supervision and communication Controlled delivery in live and restricted environments Discuss Your Project Safely Request a Quote The Job Begins Before The Project Starts For a recent London data centre project, MRI managed the storage, delivery, lifting and final positioning of 5no buffer vessels measuring approximately 3m diameter x 7m long. The vessels were collected from storage, delivered into a live central London site, crane lifted to Level 9, transferred into the side of the building via a 10t lifting platform, then carefully moved through restricted internal areas before being upended and positioned into their final locations. Due to the extremely tight access and limited working space, MRI carried out a full uprighting trial whilst the vessels were still in storage. Although the drawings, RAMS and lift plans confirmed the methodology, we wanted to physically prove the operation before reaching site. This allowed the team to refine the lifting sequence, confirm clearances, test equipment arrangements and remove uncertainty before the live operation. Sometimes the extra preparation is what makes the difference between a job that works on paper and a job that works safely and efficiently on site. That is the standard MRI aims to deliver on every project. Health and Safety Is Built Into the Project, Not Bolted On Later Mechanical Removals & Installations works on projects where poor planning can create serious problems. A missed access issue, unsuitable lifting method, unclear exclusion zone, incorrect equipment choice or weak communication chain can quickly lead to delays, damage or unsafe conditions. MRI approaches safety through planning, preparation and control. Before work begins, Mechanical Removals & Installations considers the equipment, site conditions, access routes, work area, lifting or movement method, personnel, machinery, transport requirements, surrounding activities and foreseeable risks. The aim is simple: make sure the work is understood properly before people, plant and equipment arrive on site. Our Approach to Safe Project Delivery Mechanical Removals & Installations uses a practical, site-led approach to health and safety. The paperwork matters, but it must reflect the real job, the real site and the real risks. Understand the Task Mechanical Removals & Installations starts by understanding what needs to be lifted, moved, transported, stored, removed, dismantled or positioned, including the equipment type, weight, dimensions, condition and final location. Assess the Site MRI reviews access, ground conditions, floor loading, obstructions, work areas, delivery points, lifting locations, surrounding activities and site restrictions before recommending the safest method. Plan the Method Mechanical Removals & Installations plans the equipment, manpower, sequence, documentation, communication arrangements and controls needed to complete the work safely. Control the Work MRI supports work through competent supervision, clear communication, safe systems of work, suitable equipment and practical coordination with client and site teams. Review and Improve Mechanical Removals & Installations aims to learn from completed works, project feedback, near misses, site observations and operational experience to keep improving how work is planned and delivered. RAMS & Project Planning Mechanical Removals & Installations can support works with risk assessments, method statements and practical planning documents that set out how the task will be controlled. These documents are not treated as a tick-box exercise. They need to reflect the actual project, site conditions and method of work. Depending on the scope, Mechanical Removals & Installations can support planning around lifting operations, HIAB deliveries, plant movement, machinery relocation, mechanical plant replacement, controlled dismantling, fuel tank removal, temporary works, site waste logistics and final positioning. Planning Can Include Site surveys and access assessments Risk assessments and method statements Safe systems of work Lift plans and lifting method statements Equipment selection and suitability checks Personnel and supervision planning Delivery and movement sequencing Exclusion zones and working areas Emergency arrangements where required Communication and coordination with site teams LOLER-Aware Lift Planning and Controlled Lifting Operations Lifting operations need to be properly planned, appropriately supervised and carried out safely by competent people using suitable equipment. Mechanical Removals & Installations supports lifting works through planning-led delivery, including CPA contract lifting, Appointed Person support, crane lift plans, RAMS, lifting supervision and communication with site teams where required. MRI considers the load, lifting radius, crane position, lifting accessories, ground conditions, crane mat requirements, obstructions, exclusion zones, public interfaces, weather conditions, surrounding activities and final landing position before the lift takes place. Lift Planning Can Include CPA contract lifting arrangements Appointed Person lift planning Crane lift plans RAMS and lifting method statements Load weight and dimension reviews Lifting accessory selection Crane position and lifting radius checks Crane mat and load spreading considerations Exclusion zones and communication plans Lift supervision and site coordination PUWER-Related Equipment Suitability and Safe Use Mechanical Removals & Installations uses a range of equipment across lifting, movement, transport, storage, dismantling and final positioning works. The selected equipment needs to be suitable for the task, the site, the load, the access route and the working environment. For plant movement, machinery relocation, jacking, skidding, gantry lifting, HIAB operations, mechanical handling and site support works, MRI considers equipment suitability, operator competence, inspection status, maintenance, access restrictions, load characteristics and the safest practical method of work. Equipment Planning Can Include Suitable equipment selection Work equipment suitability checks Mechanical handling method selection Jacking and skidding planning Gantry lifting planning where required HIAB and lorry loader setup considerations Route protection and floor loading considerations Equipment inspection and condition checks Operator competence and supervision Safe systems of work for equipment use Safety Planning for Restricted Access and Live Environments Many Mechanical Removals & Installations projects take place in live, restricted or sensitive environments. That can include operational commercial buildings, data centres, industrial sites, construction sites, plant rooms, basements, roof areas, service yards and critical infrastructure locations. These environments need extra care because the work often interfaces with other contractors, client staff, live services, restricted routes, delivery windows and operational areas. MRI plans these works around access, communication, segregation, timing, route protection and disruption control. Restricted Access Controls Can Include Access route surveys Site-specific RAMS Route protection planning Floor loading considerations Exclusion zones and segregated work areas Delivery timing and traffic coordination Communication with site teams Interface planning with other contractors Protection of client assets and finishes Final positioning controls Health and Safety in Data Centres and Critical Environments Mechanical Removals & Installations supports data centre and critical infrastructure projects where equipment movement needs to be carefully planned, controlled and communicated. These projects often involve valuable equipment, restricted access, security controls, live operational areas and tight programme windows. MRI can support staged delivery, secure storage, lifting, internal movement, mechanical handling and final positioning of critical equipment while planning around site rules, access controls, equipment protection and interface with other project teams. Critical Environment Planning Can Include Secure storage and staged delivery Controlled access and delivery windows Internal movement route planning Critical equipment protection RAMS and method statements Lift plans where required Mechanical handling method planning Competent supervision Communication with client and site teams Final positioning and handover coordination Controlled Dismantling, Plant Replacement and Fuel Tank Removal Mechanical Removals & Installations supports projects involving mechanical plant replacement, controlled dismantling, strip-outs, drain downs, fuel tank removal and decommissioning support. These works need careful planning because they may involve isolations, stored energy, residues, restricted access, cutting, lifting, transport and site clearance. MRI plans these tasks around safe systems of work, the condition of the equipment, isolation requirements, access, dismantling sequence, lifting or handling method, waste logistics and coordination with client and site teams. Controlled Works Planning Can Include Drain down and isolation coordination Controlled dismantling methods Hot and cold cutting considerations Fuel tank de-gassing support where required Tank cleaning and preparation support Waste logistics planning Lifting and transport coordination Site clearance support RAMS and method statements Competent supervision and communication Safe Transport, Loading, Unloading and Site Delivery Transport and delivery work needs to be planned around more than the journey itself. Mechanical Removals & Installations considers collection access, delivery access, loading method, unloading requirements, vehicle suitability, delivery timing, site restrictions, lifting requirements and handover arrangements. Whether the project involves HIAB transport, heavy haulage, specialist transport, storage-to-site delivery or staged project logistics, MRI plans the movement so equipment can be loaded, transported, unloaded and handed over safely. Transport Planning Can Include Load weight and dimensions Collection and delivery access checks Vehicle suitability planning Loading and unloading method HIAB setup and lifting radius considerations Ground condition considerations Delivery timing and site booking requirements Exclusion zones and unloading areas Communication with site teams Follow-on movement or final positioning planning Competent People, Clear Responsibilities and Proper Supervision Safe delivery depends on having the right people involved at the right stage. Mechanical Removals & Installations aims to use competent personnel for planning, supervision, operation and site coordination across lifting, movement, transport, storage and project support works. Responsibilities need to be clear before work begins. MRI works with clients, principal contractors, site teams and other contractors to clarify the method, sequence, access arrangements, working areas and communication routes needed to deliver the task safely. Key Controls Clear roles and responsibilities Competent supervision where required Suitable personnel for the task Briefings before works begin Communication with site teams Coordination with other contractors Monitoring of work activities Escalation of issues or changes Site-specific method awareness Practical control of working areas Coordination with Clients, Principal Contractors and Site Teams Mechanical Removals & Installations often works as part of a wider project team. Good coordination is essential where lifting, transport, plant movement, dismantling, temporary works, waste logistics or final positioning interface with other trades and site activities. MRI can coordinate with clients, principal contractors, M&E contractors, facilities teams, suppliers, installers and other site stakeholders to help make sure the work is planned around the wider project programme. Coordination Can Include Pre-start project discussions Site surveys and access reviews Review of programme requirements Communication with site management Permit and booking coordination where required Interface with other contractors Delivery sequencing and staged call-offs Confirmation of working areas Final positioning and handover planning Post-work review where required Safety Across Every Service Mechanical Removals & Installations applies safety-led planning across every service area, from single deliveries to complex turnkey project packages.
